The Revolution Square / The Republic Square, Ljubljana, Slovenia

was selected to show the legacy of remarkable architectural and urban design elements from the chosen period in Slovenia. The square is nowadays the most important representative of 'the architecture of political infrastructure', and a representative of the dialogue between strong architecture (and architect) and fragile people (general public users). Nevertheless it should be emphasized that it represents the period of decentralisation of the socio-political system of the immediate period after the WW2, enabling the circumstances of excellent architectural design materialisations. The strong personality of the main designer Edvard Ravnikar gives strength to the design, and his status as the chosen one by socio-political and professional elite offered him the level of freedom, needed for the design creativity.
