Workers' quarters Trbovlje (DDT), Trbovlje, Slovenia

DDT of Marko Župančič and Oton Gaspari has been chosen as an exemplary and representative building of its times both in architectural (Modern Slovene architectural movement), urban, cultural and perseverance of its initial programme sense. The building as institution has promoted its social role and the cultural programme, although highly politically spiced at that time, it has all along carried also a very patriotic, Slovene note from its very inception. Cultural and community centres can be highlighted as positive remnants of former Yugoslavia that emerged in conditions and climate drastically different from today's – the investment into cultural institutions on such a large scale and building impetus alone have been long gone and will not be repeated any time soon.
